Pop Tarts!!! Where’s the dam**d Pop Tarts!

Here’s the original and edible pop tart recipe. Yeah, you’re joking.

Just for you, not joking, I grabbed a box of cat food to stand on to get down grandma’s 1950 Betty Crocker Cookbook and it automatically opened to the well used page 196 for Filled Cookies:

1/2 C shortening
1 C sugar
2 eggs
2 T cream (not needed)
1 t vanilla
2 1/2 C flour
1/4 t baking soda
1/2 t salt

Roll dough out. Cut with 3” cookie cutter. Fill. Top with another dough piece.

Bake 400 for 10 minutes.

Tip - Fill with preserves or jelly. Some of the jelly will leak out during cooking so preserves or fruit butter is better.
