It’s time to use the antitrust laws to break up these monolith internet media companies that control the majority of information on the internet. Yes, I know, start your own platform, etc. That’s not practical when one or two left wing companies dominate. It’s like saying dig your own oil out of the ground when Standard Oil controlled virtually all petroleum in the U.S., we finally said monopolies can’t be allowed to run everything and broke them up. This isn’t really any different, but it’s worse in a way. Twitter and Facebook can effectively control freedom of speech with their overwhelming media dominance. We’ve rightly criticized European nations when they censored unpopular speech like when Geert Wilders criticized Muslims terrorists. Now we’re doing the same thing, just by proxy, with these monopolies censoring speech that doesn’t comply with leftists standards. The founding fathers envisioned government being the only entity that was capable of restricting the people’s right to freedom of speech, they didn’t see private corporations becoming so big that they could act as a de facto government themselves and quell speech. They need to be broken up.
