Please add me to the ping list. Thanks!
I would love to have a full size tomato like one could easily buy in a store 55 years ago.

Happy New Year from southern New Hampshire!
I wrapped up 2021 by transferring over a ton of compost from our flatbed trailer to either our future two raised beds or a small pile just outside the gate. That took the effort of two days, helped in a great deal by my YardMax powered dumper. Now, I can pickup a pallet of wood pellets, this week.
Today, I ordered a packet of sunflower seeds for next year. Supposed to grow nearly 20ft tall. We will see.
Welcome to a new year. Let’s put that crop storm behind us!
We are expecting 6” of snow here in west Michigan which makes pictures like yours all the more precious.
Love that Maine Coon! He looks like our Walter!
I meant “Crap”, not “Crop”!
Oooohhhhh.... what a beautiful, fluffy kitty! :)
Good morning from Oregon...Happy New Year...thanks for all your year long work
Diana ...it’s 11 degrees with snow on the ground here...and since we are doing a major remodel this year at our new home...no garden, except in pots, maybe. But I’m a sucker for seed catalogs!
GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!! You’re starting out 2022 with such a winner you’re going to have a hard time topping it. (with basil, maybe?)
What a darling! We’re on the east coast, but I remember a wolf hound addicted to going on snow and how we would desperately search for the last patch.
Baker Creek actually only grows some of their own seeds. They contract out the rest, because in order to maintain isolation distances they would need a farm bigger than the entire state!
(I’m one of their growers, and I’m in Wisconsin.)

Re: nasturtiums
I received my Baby Rose Nasturtium seeds last week from Park Seed Company.
Sounds like I might have to start the germination process this early?
I have a seed starting set-up from Park ( The BioDome ) , that I put in a sunny corner that has windows on 2 sides. In April I will start heating my greenhouse and move all my BioDome started seedlings out there.
Last winter I started pansies and several other seeds early, but not January first, more like end of February.
Was going to start my pansies earlier than that this year, maybe Jan. 15th.
So if you start nasturtiums in January, I will give it a try.
Any advice on nasturtium seeding or general info is welcome!
I am growing the Baby Rose variety because it is not long and viney.
If I like them, I will try other varieties including the bigger ones.
🤓
I am in Texas. If you are in a colder climate, January might be a little early...though it is supposed to get to 25° F tonight.
I just start them like any seed. They are slow to germinate, like two weeks. Then about 6 weeks to be ready for outdoors.
Also. I have a greenhouse so can get stuff out of the house even if it’s not ready to go in the ground.
We’ve had 25° nights twice now. Amazingly, my okra out in the garden didn’t freeze and is still putting on okra. I thought okra froze easily.
Yep, I am in a cold climate, southern Wisconsin.
Good to know it might take 2 weeks to germinate them. I will try to be patient. 😅
I almost bought 2 or 3 varieties to try, but I have many other seeds and decided to be good and try just one kind this year.
I bought Swiss Chard seeds too, in my latest seed order that arrived.
I could have gotten Chard, Spinach and lettuce, but again controlled myself and got one thing, just the swiss chard.
Spring can’t get here soon enough. Want to get out there and get gardening!

High of 73 today & lots of rain overnight & in the morning - the ground is sloppy muddy. We’ve had some fog, some windows on the shop are ‘sweating’ (cooler inside than out). We did see a peep of sun this afternoon and it’s quite humid aka T-shirt weather. It’s hard to believe it’s New Year’s Day with this sort of non-winter weather.
That may change shortly - big glob of rain/front coming in & we have a potential snow event Jan. 3, Monday morning. The ground is very wet, roads are warm so there should not be much accumulation (ok by me!).
Walking the dog this evening, I noticed dandelions blooming in the fields and the camellias think it’s spring time & are blooming - I hope the buds don’t freeze later on.
Happy New Year to all!
