I don’t know how brief a time period it would need to establish and maintain a connection.

Oh, a Dodge. Well, that is one very proactive tow truck operator, right there.

If you have an iPhone, you’ll be warned a foreign tag is following you.

Downhere they buy them auction and sell them to cab companies.
When I was a kid the Clarkstown, NY PD were using Chevy Biscaynes with the 427 V8's. The local street rodders grabbed most of them when they auctioned them off and raced them at Pine Plains, National Speedway, Englishtown, etc. Don't think any of them are around anymore :(

“I think the LE argument for the Chargers was the same as the argument for better firearms some 20 years before: we need at least as much as the bad guys have.”
The "horsepower wars" started between the police and moonshiners. The first cars the FL State troopers used in 1939 were basic Ford business coupes with the larger Mercury flathead V8s, to try to keep up with the moonshiners, who were always finding ways to modify their vehicles to stay a step ahead of the cops and "renvenooers". It was one factor that led to the creation of NASCAR. Too bad NASCAR mgmt, even before the woke idiots who now run the show lost sight of it's roots.

He said Crown Vics were good for 300,000 miles and the Dodges are done at 150,000.
At a recent local car show I was chatting with a Hernando Cty, FL Deputy, their still using Chargers. I joked with him saying that "REAL Chargers only have TWO doors" (I had a 1968 Charger long ago) He had a good laugh over that :)

Yes, you have to disable it. It may not be on all cars, but it is on many cars. There are articles about it on line, including the Washington Post. See below.

If you haven't read Tom Wolfe's, "The Last American Hero", I highly recommend it.

Crown Vics were seriously good cars. And you can get them cheap on the used market. Or you could before the spike in prices.

What does the WP say. I don’t subscribe to it.

“I’m pretty sure 99% of new car buyers aren’t aware many if not most new cars are sold with a hidden location device similar to lo jak that tracks your car in the event you default on your car loan. Makes it easy to locate and repossess. There is away to disable it if you know how.”
From what I read this is done not on new cars but on used cars sold to high risk customers.
