Case counts include those since Friday Dec. 24.
Over 5,000 positive tests and a 1% uptick in hospitalizations.
My sister works in the Tarrant county hospital. She gives me a front row seat to the goings-on. I don’t care what the metrics say, it’s never as bad as they say. And she will not take the vaccine, nor will many of the other healthcare workers that she associates with. They know this is a political stunt.
A small uptick in hospitalizations as we head into flu season. Seems to happen just about every year.
Statewide, Texas reports that new daily cases really took of the last two weeks in December - more than tripling (4.2K/day to 13.8K/day, from the 14th to the 28th).

Texas is still below it’s peak case rates from the Delta wave or last Winter’s big wave, but it is rising quickly, and other places in the Country have recently quickly blown by their old records.
It still looks good that hospitals will not be overwhelmed though, because Omicron is so less severe (and/or immunity is more widespread).
I monitor Tarrant county statistics because they don't have a daddy Clay Jenkins Newsome of Dallas County.

12/21 - 231 COVID patients
12/29 - 533 COVID patients
That's a 131% increase in cases in 8 days.
It would be very interesting to see data regarding vaccination status of cases and hospitalized cases.

Our son works for Tarrant County....he’s had Covid and will not take the shots. Our granddaughter is an RN in another part of Texas that’s had Covid also and refuses the jab because she’s not comfortable with the effects on women of child-bearing age.
I want to know what happened to the flu!!! Never mind....not enough money in it like Covid. Am I wrong?
I think he’s referring to the hospital occupancy rate not the rate of increase.
In the UK, more than half of the hospital patients with COVID19 were admitted to the hospital for something else and were diagnosed with COVID19 while in the hospital.
How many of the hospitalization are the same in the USA?

You mean positive tests.
Can you provide the increase in tests administered for the same time?
Can you provide the increase in tests administered for the same time?
More importantly, can data be provided that shows the number of true versus false positives?
As you noted last year the flu appeared to have vanished. So far this year the cases seem about 50% of a typical year.
I tell ya I think it’s all about the money....and corrupt power that always goes with it. Big pharma and big hospitals are in on the racket. Pfizer has raked in BILLIONS (in my Carl Sagan voice) since this mess started. I think and I stand corrected that President Trump had big pharma reined in at the beginning but look at them now.....puke!!!!
