COVID-19 is our individual response to acquiring the SARS-CoV-2 virus; BUT, almost-the-same-as-COVID-19 seems to be our individual response to “getting the shot.”
IOW, common to both situations, is the status of our individual immune system and how it will respond (including, was the shot properly administered? - re aspirated or not?).
