The snowstorms in the Sierra have kept emergency crews busy with calls. Ten days ago, crews received a call from a dad-to-be — on his way to the hospital with his wife.
The couple was going from Kings Beach to Truckee, but traffic was heavy.
Mom was in labor, and the baby wasn’t going to wait. So, the couple pulled over on Highway 267 and the dad called 911.
A dispatcher named Lacey was able to talk him through the delivery.
In the audio released by Cal Fire, the dad can be heard saying his wife is in the middle of delivery and that "she feels it."
Lacey is then heard telling the dad to put her seat back, and a short time later, dad tells her that the baby is out.
By the time first responders arrived, the baby girl was resting on mom, wrapped in dad's sweater, both happy and healthy.
Where was the line about the mother screaming in pain?
SERIESLY, good for this dad, and what a memory for them!
Very sweet. What a relaxed Dad. He needed to be there to catch.
This little one was destined to be Daddy’s girl.
And the man said, “Where do I take this baby from heaven?”
And God said, “Out on Highway 267”.
911 Dispatcher: "Is this her first child?"
Man: "No, this is her husband."
Very good! Same song I was thinking of! Well done!
There was a similar story a few years ago, and because they proceeded to the ER for follow-up they got a bill as though a doc had delivered the baby.
