Rethink the notion that police are “public” servants. it is the government that pays them, therefore, it is the government that they serve.
If the police are threatening to arrest non-compliant customers for TRESPASSING, then I’m now thinking that the restaurant staff called the police. I don’t think the police can charge someone with trespassing unless the property owner files the complaint.
The restaurant industry in NYC has been fighting this mandate because of the financial losses the restaurants have incurred; many restaurant owners have also made it clear that they have no intention of checking papers at the front door.
But if a restaurant can be fined for serving unjabbed diners, then they're left with two options, both of them bad: 1) simply close the doors of the restaurant (and in some cases, lose a family business), or 2) have someone else do the heavy lifting for them.
Outside of a handful of liberal bastions, that experience in the restaurant would have been unpleasant enough that anybody with any remnant of a conscience would make sure they never darkened its doors again. But if the owner is looking at a substantial fine for non-compliance with the mandate, he or she may have believed that the best bad solution available was to call the police.
The real outrage wasn't the cops coming into the place and saying, "Ihre Papiere, bitte."; it was that everyone else in that restaurant didn't immediately get up and leave.
The restaurant was told it would press charges against people for trespassing or face crippling fines if anyone refuses to give their papers to the Gestapo.

Somebody got their wires crossed. This did not happen. Ever since I came on Free Republic and I have been here since Clinton’s second term. It has been Free Republic Dogma that the Police are on our side. This did not happen. It is just a vicious rumor. Just as the rumor that the Police did nothing as members of ANTIFA beat the tar out of Trump supporters. And the Police did nothing as members of ANTIFA and BLM rioted, beat up people, set buildings, businesses, and vehicles on fire along with smashing plate glass windows. That and other rumors of the Police doing nothing as rioters loot, pillage, and burn must have been started by Police haters. Conservatives are Dogmatic that the Police are on their side.
As far as I'm concerned it already is. Right now I wouldn't patronize a NYC business establishment at gunpoint -- even if it was run by an openly defiant owner who refused to enforce the stupid restrictions. I'll travel to Kabul before I go to NYC.
And the only comment Trump can muster concerning how HIS VACCINES are being used is that ‘he is against mandates’.
Well this is where we are headed Trump. Step up or get out the way because we need a fire breathing leader right now on this subject who is not blind to the leftist agenda. Someone who understands right and wrong and leads regardless of what poll numbers say.
‘I’m against the mandates’ is not enough. Nowhere near enough!
Just a thought that any time we encounter a cop, in a very friendly manner,that we should ask him what he would do in this circumstance. And then if he says he would do what these cops did, in as pleasant a way as possible you should tell him that he is a piece of dog crap.
And don’t forget that the do-nothing police created Kyle Rittenhouse and the desperate need for others like him.

Yep, I think in those 8 years the Obama caliphate was in power, they changed EVERYTHING which is why we are having all this insanity today. This was his “fundamental transformation”
