What about stop-and-go traffic? Won't most people want the car to commute to work and back? Isn't more energy used to start the car from zero mph to 40mph until the next stop sign or traffic light?

What is the average maximum round trip on city roads with an electric car?

IIRC regenerative braking lets EVs recoup most of the energy they use to accelerate. As a result they’re pretty efficient doing stop and go. Where they’re less efficient is at high speeds on the highway since they can’t recoup energy lost to wind resistance. At least I think that’s how it works out.
