IIRC regenerative braking lets EVs recoup most of the energy they use to accelerate. As a result they’re pretty efficient doing stop and go. Where they’re less efficient is at high speeds on the highway since they can’t recoup energy lost to wind resistance. At least I think that’s how it works out.

Thanks. I have a hybrid with regenerative braking, so I know that it works, but it works best with long, slow, deceleration.

You’re correct. EV’s are better than ICE at low-mph stop/start, but EVs entirely lose out at higher, steady highway speeds as they don’t have the advantage of gearing of ICE engines.
