I have chosen to live and work in a rural area. My house is less than 2 miles from my office. I average under 5,000 miles per year (most of that when I go out of town). Even at Biden gas prices, I don’t really care what gas mileage I get.

At $3/gallon for gas and only 20 MPG in my big, comfortable, (fully paid for) 2010 Suburban, I spend a total of about $750 per year for gas. If I spent $30,000 to $50,000 or more to buy a tiny beer can of a car that gets 40 MPG, it would save me about $375 per year for gas.

“Will you be good to yourself and use your car? Will you take a look at this? 6,000 pounds of solid comfort. It takes up space, it pollutes the atmosphere, it scares the birds, f*ck ‘em. I love it! - Serial (1980)
