current politics in recent TV episodes

Posted on 12/26/2021 6:10:16 PM PST by jimfr

My eye caught MacGyver as I searched TV series. The 5th season started with faces masks on everyone. then stopped and the later 1/3 concentrated on nanobots in people by the US Government. I was wondering how this influence the public's thoughts. Have any of you seen these episodes or heard anyone comment on them?

I quit watch TV a while ago. EVERY show has some “agenda”. I watched TV to escape reality, To be honest I don’t miss it.

There is a market for critiqued television episodes and commercials, similar to how VH1 did with the 1990s 'Pop-up Videos' where they replayed 1980s music videos and added in trivia and other stuff in pop-ups throughout the video.

It would expose the ruthless propaganda throughout it all.

The big pharmaceutical industry is now putting out non specific, love us, we never stop making your life better, public relations commercials. Public opinion must be starting to nose up the tent edges.

No Beagles though.

I remember watching Macgyver back in the 80’s when I was a single digit midget. Airwolf, and Dukes of Hazard too.

Almost all relationships on Fantasy Island are inter-racial or same-sex.

Trailer Park Boys was one of the best productions ever! Shame that crazy lady brought the whole thing down like Yoko Ono in a banshee mood.

yes. i just recently rewatched the great Angus show. liked it first run. liked it second run even with the woke enviromentalism and anti 2nd amendment stuff you notice as a grownup conservative. i mean that was his character, and he was never overbearing or hypocritical about it.

it had some very prescient episodes about the evils of communism, and the communist chinese party, including the student movement of Tienanmen square.

plus i’m a retired engineer and have macgivered my way out of many problems. i like that stuff.

I am of the opinion that the popularity of zombie movies/series led to a desire for a viral apocalypse scenario. People were ENJOYING the empty freeways and lockdown like they were cosplaying

I’ll give you a better one for politics:

Netflix’s “Don’t Look Up”

It merits a thread all its own.

Saw that one. The movie wasn’t half bad. Good for a popcorn flick until that cheap shot with the MAGA crowd.
