So, who gets charged? Normally the perp that caused the disturbance is but in this new woke world, will it be the officer? If it is, it is an automatic guilty verdict.

“identified the girl as Valentina Orellana-Peralta and the suspect as Daniel Elena Lopez”

So, what was the cop’s name?

This is so beyond freeeking stupid I’m going to hurt myself venting, after jawboning about how dumbass Potter was.

It’s been about 40 years since the first reported incident of a person being shot while quietly minding his own business in the next room. In a tall apartment building in Honolulu, about 1980, cops shot, missed, killed a kid on the couch next door.

That event started the push for frangible bullets to be used in urban environments. It didn’t take long for very effective frangible rounds to be available and I always had them available. They were designed to not penetrate two layers of sheetrock with much energy left. This stuff has been available to cops in urban areas for decades but you never see them use it. Think how many frangibles they could buy for the cost of the mistake? Garcetti is going to have to write some serious checks to clean this one up.

I lived in North Hollywood for a year back in the 1970s, and then it was just a working class area, but with some isolated Mexican gang activity. Nearby Pacoima was the hotbed of Mexican gangs back then. However, that scourge has exploded throughout the Valley, and today there is no real difference between North Hollywood and Pacoima.

The call was there was an active shooter. That gets the cops all fired up to blast away.

Curious, what if it was a ccw holder that took down the perp and an innocent person died as a result of a bullet going through a wall and killing them, would they be looking at Criminal or Civil Liability? Would it be a different conversation?

I DON’T BELIEVE IN SPECIAL RIGHTS FOR ANYONE.

I see a majority of replies on this thread are blaming the cop.

Yes of course, he should not have fired.

Allowing the suspect to shoot and kill 8-10 Christmas shoppers because one cop didn’t have a clear shot.

starting to really have concerns about the police (larger communities) and their roles as enforcers for the totalitarian govt wishes.
