A trademark tiff between America's oldest beer maker and its best-selling beer brand appears to be over before it really began.
Last week, D.G. Yuengling & Son demanded its much larger rival, Anheuser-Busch, stop using a tagline for its forthcoming Bud Light Next zero-carb beer.
Bud Light had been calling it the "next generation of beer."
Yuengling says that's too close to the trademarked slogan it uses for its low-carb brew Flight.
Yuengling poked fun at Anheuser-Busch on social media and sent the beer giant a cease-and-desist letter.
Anheuser-Busch has since scrubbed its social media accounts of the disputed posts.
Yuengling was the choice beer at Trump’s inauguration. I heard they sent them for free. I went to a few beer specialty stores here and some beer snob morons thought it was Chinese..
I used to drink Yuengling a long time ago. I liked their black and tan but that was a long time ago. They both suck now but just that Bud sucks more.
.
Well they are female owned now and pricey, way to much emphasis on lite crap.
Used to be great and cheap on draft.
I would love to give Yuengling my patronage when in my low carb mode for Beer. Unfortunately they just won’t distribute it to the West Coast. It looks like Texas is far West as it gets distributed, and they only got it in the last few months.
I think Yuengling is pretty good on tap.
Let them drink their craft beers and keep their opinions ;)
Tx dont need em, they got Shiner :P
Sounds like the old days when we had to bootleg Coors from the west back to the great lakes. I remember taking a case of Coors as baggage on a flight from Phoenix to Cleveland.
And demand in Phoenix was so strong you could only get it on a Tuesday afternoon when they delivered to the store.
My Dad drank it,,,in the 60's...they had a brewery off the 5 FWY..towards L.A. Calif.
It was cheap beer..and maybe that's why my dad liked it.
“Sounds like the old days when we had to bootleg Coors from the west”
I had to bootleg Coors from SC to NC. Guess this was late 70’s early 80’s. Every can had a sticker on it “shipped from Mexico”. Somehow the SC stores could stock it as long as it came thru Mexico though it was still illegal in NC.
Yuengling’s porter/Hershey chocolate offer is a nice winter drink. One is good two gets alittle heavy.
they had a brewery off the 5 FWY.
Being next to the LA River in the worst part of the city enhanced its reputation as the worst beer in the world.
Yuengling & Bud Light are both lousy brews.
Exactly!
I see it as the Krispy Kreme/In-n-Out effect: it has a mystique, comes in like a bombshell, lines around the block, people figure out it’s just another beer/burger and things calm back down. I’d take a Stella over Yuengling (but I’m a total craft beer snob, so...).
My uncle would bootleg Coors from Texas to Virginia. When he came to Texas, he would bring an empty large hard sided suitcase. I could hold two cases of Coors. He would check the bag on his flight back home.
Have you seen the throw back Shiner Bock bottles?
They have labels on them from the 60’s and 70’s.
Cool stuff.
Really do not care...
18-years ago, when I turned 70, I gave up using beer, wine, & steroids...
Never missed any of them...
