For liberty, vaccinate

EDITOR: When anti-vaxxers challenged the smallpox vaccine mandates in the early 20th century, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected any notion that the Constitution recognizes a right to refuse a mandated vaccine. In Jacobson v. Massachusetts, the court stated:

“Real liberty for all could not exist under the operation of a principle which recognizes the right of each individual person to use his own … regardless of the injury that may be done to others.”

Using the Constitution to rationalize selfish beliefs is unpatriotic. If you want real liberty for all, go get vaccinated.

The so-called vaccines do not prevent the spread of covid.

There is no justification for making them mandatory.

(Also: comparing the China Virus to Smallpox is asinine in the first place)

If there was a 30-40% mortality rate like with smallpox I might consider it. As it stands, I have considered, and I will not take that shot no matter what some black-robed tyrant says.

Here is the supreme court primary holding:
A state may enact a compulsory vaccination law, since the legislature has the discretion to decide whether vaccination is the best way to prevent smallpox and protect public health. The legislature may exempt children from the law without violating the equal protection rights of adults if the law applies equally among adults.
I don’t think any legislatures have required vaccines.

And the smallpox vaccine had a very unusual feature. Once you got the vaccine, you could no longer get it or spread it. /s

I'm not an “anti-vaxxer”. I've had three. What I *am* against is depriving those who wish to avoid the shot...for whatever reason...of a livelihood,the ability to shop,go to a movie,enter a government building,etc.

Being that Islam means submission, more than “peace”. Peace thru submission.

Freedom through submission is not real freedom either.

And smallpox is a whole different ballgame.
