Not Lovin' It Fast-food restaurants make some of our favorite guilty pleasures, many of which have reached iconic status. But it takes a lot of experimenting to score a hit the likes of the Big Mac, Whopper, or Frosty. Whether they missed the mark on taste, customer enthusiasm, or something else, here are some of the biggest fast-food flops from the past few decades, including a burger that's getting a second chance to impress math-challenged Americans.

A&W’s 1/3-Pound Burger
Avert your eyes, math teachers, because this is going to be painful. In the 1980s, A&W released a 1/3-pounder to compete with McDonald’s Quarter Pounder, complete with a “third is the word” marketing campaign. But the burgers didn’t sell, and a market research firm discovered that it was because people thought 1/4 pound was larger than 1/3. Cringe. But all is not lost: Today, A&W is using the blunder to rebrand the 1/3-pound burger as the 3/9 Pound Burger, giving Americans exactly what they want: bigger numbers.

McDonald's Mighty Wings Mighty Wings debuted in 2013 as a limited-time item, but so few McDonald's customers bought the crispy chicken wings that the chain was left with a 10 million-pound surplus at the end of the year. The $1-a-wing price point was too high for many, while others thought the wings were too spicy. Still, the wings returned in Atlanta, where they were a strong performer, in 2016. there's yer answer fishbulb, I can still get wings here for 35c despite Joes pandemic

Well, this also did not last long. Who else here remembers this, complete with the Dean Martin song in the commercials, lol?

Chi-Chi’s was actually pretty good, it was just unfortunate at what happened at the Beaver Valley Mall.

I don’t know if it was a chain but one that went down quick here in Virginia was an outfit called Two Pesos.

Roy's had a "fixens bar" for your burger at PSU back in the 80's.

Nice time to buy an 89 cent burger and make a gigantic salad out of it. They also had free refills on drinks. We used to keep the cups in our dorm rooms and just bring them in for free soda.

My advice is to avoid Wing Stop at all costs.

Quizno's decided to self immolate on tv, by adding horrible music and rats to commercials.
Nothing beats thinking about rats and food.

For some reason, I’ve never had the strong desire to go to a Long John Silver’s (noticing their mention in the article) while in the United States. Olive Garden, Ponderosa (wherever they are nowadays), Shoneys, and Cracker Barrel yes but Long John Silver’s, no.
