This is a big shame all around. Too bad the rotties’ owner did not bother to train them properly. A big dog which is untrained is a time bomb.

Yes, very sad all around.
We have a friend that has a Rottweiler and a wall full of training awards; our vet says even the best trained are only 90% and 10% they will do something else.
We used to dog-sit the Rottweiler, I kept my distance!
Our Australian Shepperd and the Rottie got along just fine... BUT, I saw the Rottie teaching our pup about the ‘magic fountain’. Here kid, just flip the cover-up and all the water you want!!!
Sometimes dogs snap....I’ve seen it
And if one goes rogue the other beta dog joins in
I can’t explain it but you get signs if you’re paying attention...
Even schutzhund level Alsatians
Take precautions with serious dogs always especially with toddlers around
Amen.
Training is key. Socialization is even more critical with big guard dogs like Rotties. If they aren’t socilized in the first few months as puppies, they can develop fear anxiety that causes snapping and vicious attacks like what happened in this case. Big aggressive dogs simply have to be socialized thoroughly when young.
Far too many dog owners don’t know to train their dogs, don’t have time to train their dogs, or don’t bother to train their dogs. This makes big dogs dangerous and small dogs annoying as heck.
My parents never had dogs, so I was a very clueless first-time dog owner and did prett much everything wrong. Having had 3 dogs, I finally almost know what I am doing. My next dog should benefit from that.
