Two Rottweilers that were attacking a jogger in St. Charles are dead after the dogs’ owner and a man who intervened tried unsuccessfully to pull the animals off the woman until the man, who has a concealed carry license, fatally shot one of the dogs, according to the Kane County sheriff’s office.
“One had her by the leg and the other had her by the scalp,” he said. “Doctors had to use 6 feet worth of sutures to repair her body.”
The horrific attack began innocently enough, according to Hain. A Labradoodle made it past an electric fence and ran from its yard to where the woman was jogging “to greet her in the street,” officials said. The jogger and the homeowner were acquaintances and friendly with one another, so the woman stopped running, grabbed the Labradoodle by its collar and helped it back to its owner, who had been standing in her driveway watching the exchange.
That’s when the two Rottweilers came bounding out of that home and started to attack the jogger, Hain said.
But the man didn’t have a gun with him, Hain said.
“So he called his father, who was maybe a block away, and asked him to get his gun and bring it to him, which he did. I believe he put it in his car and the man retrieved it,”
“That’s why he came back to point-blank range and why he fired through the side of the dog. If he had tried to shoot from a distance or into the dog’s head, that would’ve struck the woman, so he was very tactical about the way that he deployed his weapon,”

doodle you know when a child is trying to draw you what he proudly presents as a ‘dog’ ...
Often red or orange ...
Probably improper earth ground. Multiple ground rods required, and if done properly the shock will bite (sorry) and stop the dog from crossing the perimeter.
A firearm without a carry “permit” is just as Constitutionally lawful.
Did you read the article?
He had to call his father to bring him his gun.
One of our dogs had such a strong hunt/pursue urge that it learned that the collar would not continue to shock after it escaped the perimeter.
You would just hear a yelp as it crossed the line and see it running away.
Article looks like owner helped the shooter stop the dogs
I don’t think this was junkyard dog on logging chain attack
You never know ...honestly....99.99 percent of the time you know
But sometimes everyone’s shocked and I’ve owned all the dogs folks here often hate
You have to take precautions especially around kids or women on the OB
And female dogs can kill too although males are usually more aggressive
My male dogs have usually been far more aggressive than the females and make better guards
Females better hunting dogs
Excellent advice....mine work too....batteries on collar change routinely and remember some dogs are beyond fences period
They are just too damn tough ....or stupid
Surprisingly pro-gun article, too!
Prayers for all involved.
Sometimes dogs snap....I’ve seen it
And if one goes rogue the other beta dog joins in
I can’t explain it but you get signs if you’re paying attention...
Even schutzhund level Alsatians
Take precautions with serious dogs always especially with toddlers around
Dogs will be dogs. Disney did us no favors.
I like your vet.
Me too! I just got one. She is five months old and the greatest dog we have ever owned. I love this breed!
They are amazing.
We have six ft wood.
Interesting. I only know that if the victim had been my wife or daughters, I might be in prison. TY for the response.
I did.
My comment had more to do with the state of alleged law than over the specifics of this incident.
A donkey sure would though ;)
