Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandmann announced Friday that he settled a $275 million defamation lawsuit against NBC.
Neither party publicized the terms of the settlement. However, Sandmann asked for $275 million in damages in his lawsuit against NBC Universal and MSNBC.
“At this time I would like to release that NBC and I have reached a settlement,” Sandmann tweeted. “The terms are confidential.
”NBC is the third corporate media organization to settle with Sandmann after he and his classmates were accused of mocking Native American activist Nathan Phillips during last January’s March for Life event. Sandmann was wearing a red “Make America Great Again” hat while he stood close to Phillips with an apparent smirk on his face that was widely noted and mocked. Many in the media painted Sandmanmn as an aggressive racist who initiated the conflict with Phillips. However, an independent investigation concluded there was “no evidence that the students performed a ‘Build the wall’ chant.”
In the days after the media’s attacks on Sandmann, witness cell phone footage showed that Phillips initially approached Sandmann. Footage also showed that a group of Black Hebrew Israelites confronted both Sandmann’s and Phillips’ groups well before the two were face to face.

“A wiser strategy might be to list it right at or slightly below current market value to increase showings and activity. Many times multiple competing offers are received and the house will sell quickly for more than the asking price.”
It depends upon the market.
In a slow market set a GOOD price that you hope to get.
In a hot market your strategy is good.
In a COVID market (like I live in) list high and hope/expect multiple offers.
My neighbors listed their house for a high mark in our subdivision and received multiple offers in the first day.
The accepted offer was for $75,000 over list and all cash. Closed for $1,950,000 in 45 days.
We are expecting out property taxes to rise in the next few years...The market is insane right now.
If this were a stand alone law suit, 5-10% might be in the range BUT, two law suits based on the same conditions have already been WON by Sandman.
If his lawyers even suggested that they settle for 1% Sandman would have hired Rittenhouse to shoot his lawyers. {just a joke}
When one media group settles it sets the table for both a floor and since they already have money, they are playing with 'house money'.
When the media leaders settle, that is an admission of shoddy journilism, and they only settle to minimize the dollar amount.
If the media thought that they had a chance, they'd take it to trial, and if you settle under duress, the lawyer holding the hammer ain't gonna take 1%.
I doubt that they hit $100 million payout, but somewhere in the 15-25% range is more probable than $1-3 million.
Also remember, it is the insurance companies that get saddled with the actual payout, so they are looking at real dollar damages like they would fire or water damage, once they know they will pay, the only question is how much.
The insurance company doesn't give a fat rat's ass about some nbc executives getting canned.
My guess is he will fix that dental problem now.
He can afford it
“Footage also showed that a group of Black Hebrew Israelites confronted both Sandmann’s and Phillips’ groups”
Gee, I wonder why the indian chose to get in Sandmann’s face and not the Black Hebrew Israelites? Hmmm, what could it be?
So even after the settlement, is Sandmann aloud to mention the event as happened and the way the media portrayed him or does he have to lie and say “the media was fair to me.” (because of monetary settlement?)
Hopefully a couple of cobs of dried corn
I can’t imagine he accepted much less than 50 million. He’s certainly set for life.
Good point. It wasn’t ever started if the Indian and group of black Israelites conspired together against Sandmann
Good. This needs to happen much more often.
I agree with you that he is set for life, but not because he necessarily got a lot of money. The general consensus is that lawsuits that were settled quickly were probably nuisance awards, which are typically in the tens of thousands of dollars payouts. He would have settled those quickly, because the networks already have the lawyers paid for, so they can sit on a settlement until what would be paid out would just go to the lawyers and Sandmann gets nothing. Only NBC, so far, may have paid something much more significant, because of the length of time it took to settle.
When I say that he is set for life, he probably has his education paid for by the settlements for as long as he wants to be in school Coming out with a free degree, all the way to a doctorate, is nothing to sneeze at. If he invests his income, because it’s debt free, he could end up being worth $15-$20 million dollars before he retires.
He’s going to do ok.
Very cool for the sandman...
Read the post immediately following the post you’re addressing. It answers your question.
The word is that he probably didn’t get anywhere near that amount. Maybe a few hundred thousand.
Because when a group of BHIs are scarier than one old Indian jester, so the Covington kids wouldn’t have just stood there.
“Conspired” probably implies too much coordination.
🎵 I understand you been running from the man
that goes by the name of the Sandmann!! 🎵
Do we know why the black Israelites were intimidating Nicholas s well as the Indian intimidating him by beating a drum inches from his face? Why were neither of those 2 charged with a crime
“Was it over when the Germans attacked Pearl Harbor?”
They just moved the decimal from the wrong side.
I’ve noticed that few people seem to remember that the Media-Dem Party moved from getting caught spreading lies about the Covington Kids to spreading lies about Jussie Smollett without missing a beat.
Party at Nick’s house. I hope he enjoys his wealth. Next up Kyle.
