The student newspaper at an Ohio college known for its left-leaning politics published a column addressing the number of white students attending campus concerts.
“When there are so few resources for non-white students on campus, it can be upsetting when concerts headlined by artists of color are dominated by white students,” wrote Kayla Kim, a first-year student at Oberlin College....
In the Dec. 10 column titled “Concerts Need to Be Better for Students of Color,” Kim claimed that whites, who comprise the majority of the student population, take over events by displacing black students in the front rows....
...Kim also wrote a column about on-campus racism, which discussed how white students had complained on social media about feeling uncomfortable walking through black dorms. When black students responded, they were “talked over” and “experienced microaggressions,” she claimed....

Alternate World: Concert Promoters Are Prejudiced!
Will Pay Reparations Through "Front Row" Project
(Our apologies for the limited view of the stage from the wings
since the front row was so wide. Please utilize the wide screen displays.)

...by displacing black students in the front rows....
If black students wanted front row seats then they
needed to pay front row prices, just like everybody else.
They paid something to get into the concert,
just not enough for front row seating.
Economics speaks, not race.
It's all about the Benjamins.
What did you pay for your seat
and who profited from that?
The performer or the guy in the front row?
A recipe for endless insanity

Whining freshman wants front-row seats for the price of standing room.
For 2018-19 year this school was running > $77K.
This is a private Liberal arts school.
It is selective in its enrollment policies.
It does offer an income graduated tuition but the fees alone are going to cost over $20K
But the student is still going to have to meet the academic requirements.
So the chances of anyone from the hood getting in are slim.
This sounds more to me like this first year student is talking more about Cultural Appropriation.
White people should not be attending Black Music concerts in large numbers.
If the White Students did not attend there would not be any Black Band concerts on campus. The Black Bands would not be making money and Black artist would not be able to make a living.
It is likely that the writer does not understand that ticket sales are necessary for the artist to come to campus. She probably believes that the college should pay the full price of the band’s concert.
Just more lack of thinking on the part of an immature poorly formed mind.
