The preamble is NOT part of the Constitution. And of course, “General Welfare” and “Domestic Tranquility” mean different things to different people.

These two amendments are highly susceptible to being read in isolation from the Constitution as a whole and from its commitments to equality and the collective good. What the Sam Hill is she talking about?

I would change the first to stop protecting the media as they are using that protection to destroy the country with impunity. Media outlets that lie need to be SUED out of business.
The Second Amendment, of course, is fine. But I do support liberals when they call for revisiting it, simply because it’s rare for them to even admit it exists and gives rights to people.

IF one reads the FFs and their positions on these issues the amendments are clear. It’s that simple.

The Second Amendment’s idiosyncratic and anachronistic focus on militias and “arms” degrades the concept of self-defense. The right to safeguard one’s life should not be conflated with or reduced to the right to use a weapon, especially a weapon that is so much more likely to inflict injury and death than to avoid it.
Far better would be an amendment that guarantees a meaningful right to bodily autonomy and obligates the government to implement reasonable measures to protect public health and safety:*****
And there it is folks....a call to turn your protection over to the gubmint.
Pretty much the same thing the tallyban said when they took over this summer.

All people have the right to bodily autonomy consistent with the right of other people to the same, including the right to defend themselves against unlawful force and
the right of self-determination in reproductive matters. The government shall take reasonable measures to protect the health and safety of the public as a whole.
****
And now for the main point....abortion as it is always with the Left. The inherent desire to be able to murder the unborn....and probably the born in their worldview.

The Amendments known as the Bill of Rights don’t give us any rights. This rights are already ours, endowed unto us by our Creator, or nature if you so believe.
Changing the first two Amendments wouldn’t change that fact. It would only be an attempt to allow government to infringe upon our God- given, or natural, rights.
And to attempt to curtail those rights would be grounds to dissolve a government and establish a new one, per the Constitution of the United States.

the Constitution as a whole and from its commitments to equalityThe Constitution exists to secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity.
Liberty and equality are antonyms.
How, then, could the Constitution contain "commitments to equality"?
Nonsense talk.

“As legal texts go, neither of the two amendments is a model of clarity or precision. More important, both are deeply flawed in their respective conceptualizations of some of the most important rights of a democratic society: the freedom of expression and religion and the right of self-defense.”
Neither ... is a model of clarity or precision, eh?
Deeply flawed, eh?
Democratic society, eh?
Where does one begin with this, ah, expert? Hmmm, in the final analysis, it isn’t worth it. She already knows everything, and is obviously wiser than Thomas Jefferson and James Madison.

Interpretation:
We want to take away guns from civilians, make islam dominant by suppressing all other religions and then arm the islamists so they can then basically Talibanize the entire country. Free speech and the 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms is preventing this and we intend to transform the United States.

Dear Mary Anne Franks,
I would redo the first two amendments of the United States Constitution like this…
Any state or federal governmental entity that violates these civil rights will be sentenced to 20 years hard labor.
Sounds good to me.
