The Second Amendment’s idiosyncratic and anachronistic focus on militias and “arms” degrades the concept of self-defense. The right to safeguard one’s life should not be conflated with or reduced to the right to use a weapon, especially a weapon that is so much more likely to inflict injury and death than to avoid it. Far better would be an amendment that guarantees a meaningful right to bodily autonomy and obligates the government to implement reasonable measures to protect public health and safety:

*****

And there it is folks....a call to turn your protection over to the gubmint.

Pretty much the same thing the tallyban said when they took over this summer.

And there it is. You think the gubmint has gone off the rails with the phony Covid "emergency"? Just wait until they decide some phantom emergency exists, as in, "too many guns on the street" emergency and then they declare under emergency that all firearms are illegal. And that's when the party really starts.

Whenever Liberals perceive themselves losing they always want to change the rules of the game to tilt the balance FOREVER in their hands. Again we see that the Left never seeks to coexist, they want to crush any and all opposition. It is their inner ruthless fascism that forever wants expression.

The author completely (I suspect intentionally) misses the point that the Founding Fathers were making. The intent is to protect us from runaway government ambitions by prohibiting said government from infringing on our right and means to protect ourselves.

“Bodily autonomy” = “Right to Abort Children under ALL circumstances” in her eyes.

BUT! The State has their “rightZZ” to force me to take an injection, doesn’t it?

And “I” cannot be allowed to discuss either case!

The second amendment isn’t just about self defense it’s about reining in an out of control government.🤔

This whacko left out some key words, words that provide context as well as clear explanation:

“Well regulated” -— does NOT mean regulations by agencies
it meant and it means-— a well trained, ably
skilled in weaponry (maintenance, proficiency in shooting,
and well supplied with ammunition.

“Militia”- the word is capitalized, and the Militia was composed of all the able bodied (men) able to carry and use arms. The Federalist papers make clear that the Militia is
“all of the people” able to be called up. It does not mean the National Guard which is part of the DOD, except that each state’s Guard answers to the State’s governor.

“the People”— all law abiding citizens of the US. And the People are also the Militia- one and the same in participatory Republic.

“Security of a Free State”— means the security of the state of being Free. Not having a thing to do with any of the 50 States, but of all the people having the security of being Free.
