Supply-chain problems, especially related to steel, are beginning to affect road and bridge projects that contractors are doing in this area for the state Department of Transportation.
In a year-end wrap-up of the construction season Wednesday, District 11 Executive Cheryl Moon-Siriani and Jason Zang, assistant executive who oversees construction, said some contractors are having problems obtaining materials they need. The district includes Allegheny, Lawrence and Beaver counties.
They didn’t want to identify specific projects, but they said in some instances contractors have changed how work is scheduled to do work in areas where they have the materials they need. In some cases, projects have been delayed.
For example, Mr. Zang said, steel is in short supply. Light poles that typically are ordered six months in advance have been arriving six months late.
“The prices for steel are going up, and it’s taking longer to get it,” he said. “For a new project that just got bid, we’re adding extra time for the work to be done.”

No worries. Democrats and RINOs can spend another 4 or 5 trillion and the supply chain issues will magically disappear.
Pennsylvania can’t get steel.
May I remind everyone today to lower your expectations.
