The 2nd chapter of the 2nd book of Maccabees tells WHERE the Old Testament Ark of the Covenant was hidden. According to the Bible passage cited above, the Old Testament Ark of the Covenant is in a covered-up cave on Mt Nebo in the Kingdom of Jordan, coordinates 31.765095 degrees N by 35719079 degrees E, just NE of the Dead Sea. It was carried just over 24 miles from Jerusalem, when Jerusalem was about to be conquered & destroyed, including the 1st Temple, by the Babylonians, about 586 BC. Q.E.D.

In my previous post I limited the verses to save a little space. Here's verse 4:
4 It was also in the same document that the prophet, having received an oracle, ordered that the tent and the ark should follow with him, and that he went out to the mountain where Moses had gone up and had seen the inheritance of God.
Those who couldn't find the way were looking on Mt. Nebo, in the wrong place. There's the problem right there.
Same reason why no one knows the location of Moses grave til this day, when it's right there on find-a-grave.
“The place shall remain unknown until God gathers his people together again and shows his mercy. Then the Lord will disclose these things, and the glory of the Lord and the cloud will appear, as they were shown in the case of Moses, and as Solomon asked that the place should be specially consecrated.”
King David is the blueprint for the ideal king of all Israel because he was a righteous "dude" [דוד]... a whole-hearted regular guy after God's own heart, in stark contrast to the kings of every other nation [who are better than everyone else]. He'd give you the shirt off his back. His son is about to show everyone exactly how that's done.
David had the best vision for the grand Temple for the name* of the Lord God of Israel in the middle of JerUSAlem, the city of David on the hill.
*I AM WHO I AM, because good doesn't get any more sincere and powerful than that.

What's especially instructive about that performance is that it demonstrates what can be accomplished when nobody does any work. The less work, the better!
