Been there done that. The Mojave Desert wind near Salton Sea took the front bumper of my jeep down to bare metal. Had to replace the windshield. Sure wish I hadn’t drove that trip with the top off that day haha
Your windshield displays millions of star burst in sunlight.
“Front range of Colorado got hit pretty good, too.”
I had 45 on my weather monitor here in Longmont. Wife says it was 100 in Colorado Springs.
It sure did. To my surprise it only cost me 180 bucks to replace at a glass shop in yucca valley. Good times.
“100 in Colorado Springs.”
Dang! I’m up where the wild donkeys roam , now, but it wasn’t that bad at the mansion.
It came through Iowa. Multiple tornadoes but it sounds like the damage isn’t as bad as feared.
Quote from the National Weather Service:
“ This is the first time that SPC (Storm Prediction Center) has ever issued a Moderate risk for
severe storms in the state of Iowa in December, and even in the
typical convective season they are fairly uncommon). ”
I like “Bucket your seatbelt, Dorothy” better. ;)
Heck of a list.
Anytime you see a >40 temp change in mere hours, it’s gonna get rough.
If only we could redirect these sandstorms to scour Washington DC instead.
Try: https://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/reports/today.html
There is a date box one can enter in different dates too for storm reports.
re: “Anytime you see a >40 temp change in mere hours, it’s gonna get rough.”
Yeah buddy! I bicycled in 25 mph wind with gusts over 35 today ... at times the leaves were keeping up with me.
re: “Reminders of the thirties.”
True that.
At least the leaves were racing you.
It’s climate change, I tell ya!!! (So, pony up.)
LOL. We are on a small rise above the lake and our neighbor’s had several pine trees somewhat interrupting our lake view. A HUGE wind storm came out of Montana from the east on Labor Day 2020, blew straight across the lake, and took care of a lot of the problem.
Then their sewer line backed up and they took down a tree with problematic tree roots.
Now there’s one remaining oak tree which refuses to drop its brown, dead leaves. It’s a tough one, the strongest of the bunch.
I can’t imagine the amount of work it takes to keep things clean in conditions like that.
COOL! Thanks a lot. Bookmarked.
It was pretty windy all day today in Manhattan, KS but by the time the core of the storm hit, it was a severe thunderstorm. Radar-indicated rotation but no funnel clouds.
Lost some 3-5” limbs, lost power for a while. Got rather intense for several hours. Neighbors to the west went near 107 mph. House shuddered conciderably and had me pacing while lookig out the west windows and thankfully seeing/smelling no smoke with the dust.
