Somebody start a thread about party lines!

It's on my list.

My grandmother had a party line in northern Alabama up to the mid 1970s. I have some stories to tell. Especially about "Aunt Edna" down the road a piece.

Too young to have used a party line when we had it, but our line being tapped by the Democrats, or the Feds, was always fun. The Dems because my aunt & uncle were participants in getting Reagan past the Republican nominating committee for governor of California. The Feds when a friend of my brothers made a call out of a nuclear power plant to our number.

Back then, their methods weren't hard to notice ... sudden scratchy connections, loss of volume, and out-of-place background noises at times.
