State police say they cited a juvenile after catching him driving 160 mph on Interstate 94 in Lake County over the weekend.
An Illinois State Police District 15 trooper observed a gray Audi traveling at a high rate of speed around 9:55 p.m. Sunday, according to Illinois State Police Trooper Genelle Jones
Jones said the driver was a male juvenile from Mount Prospect. He was cited for speeding 35 mph over the limit, a Class A misdemeanor. The juvenile was released on a $2,500 I-Bond and was not taken to jail for confinement, Jones said.

Maybe the ticket said, “at least 35 mph over the limit”…
Many it was an older mid 80’s model that had Unintended Acceleration?
Clocked on radar at 131 in a 50. 1969 LTD 429
Just as I passed the trap, the right front tire blew.
Managed to NOT go into the lake. Cop let me walk. He said it was because I didn’t die.
You’ve got to be a complete moron to author an article like that and leave out what car it was the kid was driving that was capable of going 160 mph.
Many years ago a friend of mine got pulled over for 60 in a 35. (We were doing about 40.)
He was driving a ‘67 Chevy van at the time. My friend chuckled and told the cop there was no way he was going 60 in that van.
The officer left us by the side of the road and took off in the van. He came back in about a minute shaking his head and apologized.
This was late 70’s in a small Michigan town.
My A6 C6 will go 155 if I got the sack...
Yeah, me to a T...Supercharged Audi’s and Viagra. Looking to buy an S5 to be an even bigger asshole.
Yes and yes...
Based on multiple Vroom and CarMax searches over the last couple months.
Audi drivers are by far the worst @-holes on the road.

Where I come from it’s the self-entitled Prius drivers that are the worst
@-holes on the road.
I regularly drove 120 on the autobahn when stationed in Germany. No one said anything. I was always passed by cars that made me seem slow.

Guessing that the roadway was in excellent condition?
Here in Illinois, the state road workers have been working from home since covid.
Not much different than in the past?
70 miles or over the limit—you are declared an “honorary Kennedy” and appointed to the next open US Senate seat!
I have seen 147 in my C5.... (2004). With the top down. It had more but I had enough.....
Lol.
Yes, the roads were outstanding.
Z-rated tires are nominally rated to 149mph unless the have a W or X at the end.
A set of z-rated for an A6 3.0 recently went for $1500-1800.
Scared to even look up the W or X cost.
For me enough was a quick 108 out of a spiral interstate ramp while cootie cleared the roads...more experienced drivers have had it against the limiter. It weighs 4480 lbs and I regularly get 24-28 mpg. My reward for driving VW since my first in 1968. Amazing cars if well maintained. German hot rods, easy 500+ hp with little more than maps and supercharger pulley upgrades.
My General GS-05s are W suffix. W = 168mph.
Plenty safety headroom and cost a paltry 162ea at Tire Rack.
Y rated tires are 186 mph...
