Possible Spoiler: My wife dragged me to an exhibit at the Museum of Fine Art in Boston of the Author's works. In one room there were 80 (literally 80) versions of water lilies at Giverny. Apparently he produced 250 such paintings, more or less the same. Whenever he needed to pay the butcher or grocer, he would knock out another copy.
