The most terrifying force of death comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. The moment the Men who wanted to be left alone are forced to fight back, it is a form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these Men who wanted to be left alone, fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives. They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at these people's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy... but it will fall upon the deaf ears of the Men who just wanted to be left alone." -Unknown
Humble would be hiding in his basement in terror, or passed out.
Never get in a fight with an old man.
My uncle was similar. 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment. He told us three things. He jumped on Corregidor, the Japs didn't give up and had to be burned in their holes, and his unit was hungry a lot. I found him in a unit photo on the internet.

I like to think they no longer will be around to regret.

it’s a wonderful quote. thanks for the post.
the Spirit moves me to comment on this quote: i’m led to the conclusion that it is related closely to scripture talking about all mankind’s proper relation to God in a letter to Titus (his spiritual son) by Paul, of course, inspired by God. it is often misunderstood as our Lord through Paul advocating for unquestioned submission to secular authority. i obviously understand it very differently, more in the vein of the quote in the post.
1Ti 2:1-5
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,...
Yea. We will stop typing and turn our words into action. The millions of words we have printed have not controlled the evil that is engulfing us. It will be time to end the foolish ambitions of corrupt men, and soon now.
I am with the South in life or death, in victory or defeat. I believe the North is about to wage a brutal and unholy war on a people who have done them no wrong, in violation of the Constitution and the fundamental principles of government. They no longer acknowledge that all government derives its validity from the consent of the governed. They are about to invade our peaceful homes, destroy our property, and murder our men and dishonor our women. We propose no invasion of the North, no attack on them, and only ask to be left alone.

America’s first sin was rebellion. Men did not like encroaching power. For over 200 years it became part of our dna, and served to keep us free.
The question is whether that rebellious flame is still burning in the American heart. Or have we become Europeans?
My uncle apparently was in great shape when he volunteered after Pearl. He lost about 30 pounds on active duty and didn’t gain it back for about a year after WWII ended.
