LOL, if I took it with whiskey, I’d probably be unconscious until noon.

Melatonin was one of the things the Docs gave to President Trump, when he had COVID-19. I believe it was 10 mg. Before bed.

I thought that was a large dose, but he is a big man, and it turns out to be the same dose as this study. Personally, I occasionally use 1-3 mg, when I need some particularly good sleep (jet lag or illness). I don’t want to get dependent on taking pills, and have my natural production decline, from using it routinely, and/or in high doses. 10 mg would give me some awesome sleep.

It is cheap, and easily available over the counter. I definitely plan to pound some every night, if I get a symptomatic case of COVID.

The results of this study were surprisingly strong.

Melatonin has been shown safe for long-term use in children and adolescents with autism and ADHD. There is no rebound insomnia if a dose is missed.

If there are instances of daytime drowsiness it is probably from an extended release formulation; melatonin has a very short half life and should be out of the body after eight hours of sleep.

The vivid dreaming seems to be a pretty common experience. I found my dreams to be so intense and so involving that my sleep wasn’t very restful.

“I looked at a bottle. Even the cheap stuff has warnings.”

The warnings and list of side effects is odd considering that everyone makes their own melatonin — lots when you’re young and less when you’re old. It’s kind of like putting out a list of warnings for red blood cells or something. They can cause you to bleed!!! lol

1 mg affects me. I wouldn’t dare take 10 mg.

The warnings and list of side effects is odd
........................................
Warnings of side effects, etc. are on practically every bottle of med supplements on the shelves. They’re there primarily for purposes of legal liability issues and warnings not to OD.
