So I go out to the living room to take a peek at Michael Bublé's Christmas In The City on NBC from 10-11 PM Eastern tonight (12/6/2021) and what to my wondering eyes should appear?
Michael. Bublé. Was. Lip-syncing.
LIP-SYNCING!
I thought for a moment I was watching a replay of A Very Boy Band Holiday from earlier in the night on another network—where I fully expected to see the lip-syncing I observed.
But Michael Bublé? One of the top male vocalists of the last few decades?? Lip-syncing??? Scandalous!
Consequently, I've now lost a significant amount of respect for Michael Bublé. I hope there's a hubbub about this, because—at least in the case of a world-class singer—such pretense completely ruins the whole production for me. No thanks. Not interested.
Did anyone else notice this?
Some things are just wrong!
I note with pleasure that Adele performed live on her recent One Night Only special on CBS—and knocked it out of the park, of course. She was magnificent.
Does anyone remember the night that Frank Sinatra lip-synced his songs?
No? That's because it never happened!
Beam me up, Scotty!

Mike Bubble?
Just think.. You pay $150.00 a ticket to go see lip sinkers!!!
Lip Syncers!!!
Even when not lip-synching, I don’t see the appeal in Michael Buble. I’m a big collector of Christmas music and it boggles my mind that he’s perennially at or near the top of the Christmas charts year after year.
Well, he could have had a problem with his throat but needed the cash and, therefore, couldn’t cancel. He smokes and drinks and that and age could have contributed to his problems. He’s not Cher where an effect is needed to keep in tune or REO Speedwagon who also sings with autotune. So excluding the bizarre, I really can’t see why unless it was now a trend that everybody was doing. Everybody is acting even General Millie Vinilly.
Not only that! He did a duet with Kermit the Frog and I am pretty sure Kermit was lip syncing!!
It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas ... 🎶
Ain’t no big thang. Just show biz. Remember Bing Crosby? Bald as a billiard ball, and a nasty sucker, but he did a nice job on “White Christmas.”
I thought it was Bob Hope wbo was the real lech in that duo.
I thought decades ago most singers and entertainers did this, nothing new, except the higher price tag to show up for it.
They use auto tune on him too.
We saw him in a concert in September. He sang for over two hours and it was great entertainment.
It’s a cheat but nothing new really. Been going on for ages. One would think in this day and age it might be waning though.
He wasn't lip syncing Frank Sinatra was he?
It was his own voice, that he recorded and then did a sing along with his mike turned off.
What's the big deal and how do you know that he was lip syncing?
It was not on pay per view, so what's your complaint?
You got to hear someone's song for free and if you had only listened and not watched, would you be upset?
What is scandalous about that?
I've heard some of his songs and real or pretended he's not that good, IMHO.
Correct. And?
When you're a world-class vocalist, you should be "brave" enough to perform live, without a net. That's what people want to see and hear—not some clumsily mimicked studio idealization.
I wonder if they used autotune too! You know—just to make sure everything was pitch perfect.
Bublé was obviously lip-syncing, replete with a turned-off microphone. One likely reason it looked so obvious is because Michael probably hasn't had much practice at it!
It was a mockery of two travesties of a sham, IMHO. Lip-syncing is for boy band has-beens who can't even sing anymore—not Michael Bublé. Or so I thought...
I’m watching it on TiVo right now and he’s singing. No lip syncing.
