Not Having to Earn Love.
When my mother married my step father, she promised us how great our life was going to become; the first Christmas I saw presents under the tree. When it came time to open them, none of the presents had my name on them. I was not the child who belonged to the money giver.
Often, children in split families perceive that they are competing for the love of their parents and may seem to have to please two people who want the child to love them more than the other. The child can grow up having insecurity about their value rather than as a child loved just for who they are.
God tells us He loved us so much that we have the free will to choose to love His Son, Jesus Christ. The God who is holy sees that your sin is washed clean by trusting in Jesus and then He identifies those as His own children worthy of His heavenly inheritance. If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
When our self-esteem is damaged by people who want to take from us, God, who gets the blame for that to many times, wants to offer us so much love and acceptance and then to give us good gifts to bless us.
This Christmas I see how much God has blessed a pauper and made her a princess; God designed a spouse to love me and be all that I needed to be blessed. We have given gifts to our family to bless them not because they earned it but because we love them. It is such a joy to be loved and free to be a person who sometimes makes mistakes, but who loves and gives all she can.
In the end of the age, it is because we belong to a heavenly kingdom, that we have the greatest hope; “seek first the kingdom of God and all the desires and needs of your heart will be given to you”, you are so loved!
My mother married a selfish idiot after my father died. Luckily, I was a grown adult. I cannot imagine the evil in a grown person’s heart that only bought gifts for his biological children. People like that enjoy hurting innocent people. You are right God loves us all equally and fully.
I was not engaged to the woman, and we ultimately went
our separate ways - but one Christmas 'Santa' gave
that boy a model train set. 'O' gauge - fairly expensive.
(Maybe 'Santa' is a pretty nice guy, eh?)
My point is - adults should act like adults - caring ones -
especially when it comes to kids - and NOT selfish jerks -
like too many do, and are.
Just my opinion.
If you are an only child, why would there need to be your name on the presents?
My dad used to get Lionel and HO gauge trains.
IF you want unconditional love, adopt a dog.
“She promised US”....
😲
That must have really hurt. Some people are just cruel and thoughtless.
I’m glad there is a happy ending for you!
This
O gauge is awesome. I can still smell the smoke from my O gauge locomotive on Christmas morning more than 40 years ago.
A very good opinion.
Agree on the dog adoption. Just remember to keep the treats flowing.
shame on your mom for letting that happen to you.
They were stored in my (deceased) parent's basement.
In 2017 there was a flood in the basement - ruined them all.
It was probably a several thousand dollar loss.
I had not been living there (no one was) for years
but I was keeping up the homeowner's insurance -
but there was not nearly enough of a payout to cover
the trains, Legos, Lincoln Logs, Motorola slot cars, etc.
But the loss meant quite a bit more to me than the money.
Her limited vocabulary includes food, chicken, steak, walk, and rabbits. She loves “stalking wild rabbits”, but has never caught one.
I was lucky, my parents (bitterly) divorced when I was 6. Shortly after, she married my stepfather, who became my closest adviser. He treated me like a son from Day One. One of the smartest men I have ever known.
