new zealander not even on the list, this proves they are liars
For quite a few years now, the Foster’s available in the U.S., at least the southwestern U.S., has been brewed under license by the Heilemann’s brewery in Canada. Or anyway it was the last time I had a Foster’s, which was just about when I found that out.
“Foster’s, Canadian for beer, eh?”
I quit for 5 years
A big wedding and 2 week vacation all over Florida ended that right before covid hit
An occasional one now
Thats RACIST !!
Americans are pretty much lightweights when it comes to drinking. You’d think we led the world with all the squalling on the news about alcoholism, drunk driving etc. As with most other things, the U.S. media takes minor matters and blows them all out of proportion for ratings and political purposes.
The Irish feel guilt over everything. They learn to feel it from the nuns, whereas the Jewish learn it from their moms.
Throw Canada and Ireland into that mix, and our English speaking relatives have a lot of drinking problems.
Is Scotland considered part of the UK?
For now yes.
Yeah same here. Found out that back in the 1990s. What I loved were billboard ads showing lots of Australian scenes and the banner imported. :)
Thanks.
Yeah, cuz what else is there to do under lockdown?
Campus binge drinking is a factor of the MADD Mothers raising the drinking age from 18 to 21.
Don't know about Walmart but I do know that I'm seeing local Publix with such severe supply problems that whole aisles have been removed, making the entire store appear more spacious. Given that, I think the beer & wine sections may appear larger but as I only buy wine I am uncertain.
FYI: Here in Florida, almost all groceries have a physically separate retail for selling liquor items while also selling some beer & wine as well.
Old news as drinking is increasingly out of fashion in Russia.
I think Russia is still in top twenty, but UK, Australia and South Korea are way ahead nowadays.
I can’t up my game, since I stopped getting drunk ages ago.
The Japanese are no slouches when it comes to drinking either.
Whatever - since they weren’t included in the ‘study’, I guess we don’t know...
“Americans are pretty much lightweights when it comes to drinking.”
From personal experience I can say most Americans would probably be in a coma while the Commonwealth partygoers are just getting warmed up. Women included!
Interesting. I’m in Pensacola, and the Publix on U.S. 90 (Cervantes) seems OK, except for a serious shortage of sports drinks. Not sure why the store is missing sports drinks and almost nothing else, but there you have it.
15 years ago, I took early retirement, and we took a long vacation in the Devon/Cornwall area and London.
There was a lot of heavy duty ale/beer drunk by my cousins through out that area. Next was wine and then the hard stuff.
Then, we spent 5 nights in London. It is wonder that any work gets done with a lot of hard liquor drunk from noon to closing. Surprisingly, a lot of Jack Daniels was drunk there.
We went to an evening prayer one evening, and my wife commented that the Church of England was probably in its final days. There was about 12 people at the service and probably everyone was 80+. Down the street every bar/tavern was basically standing room only.
