That’s great but cruising never appealed to me though when I was a young wolf man and at sea way out in small craft 37-50 foot in storms and rollers I’d see cruise ships sailing the lanes in and out of the Caribbean and various passages like The Yuck or Mona or Windward and think man I bet they are warm and dry ...unliked soaked and cold me having been strapped in the cockpit for three hours in the sort of gale where you find fish all over the deck at dawn

And I’d think you are eating good while we’re eating canned peas...lol

I’d think the same watching huge freighters go by....the superstructure looked cozy

We’d pass so close to one another you could see people through the windows

We’d be under sail ....just storm jib and the kicker to keep her steady into the seas ...

Usually ships pilot or radio man would talk to us asking if we were ok....it was at times really heavy weather like 80-90 knot gusts even hit 100 knots plus once in the Yuck which is messed up water anyhow ....huge mountains of inky water topped with spray spray spray ...

I know it’s weird looking back but that’s always been my perspective of cruise ships....freighters which I owned once I was familiar with ....but cruise ships...seemed exotic and very comfortable and secure at times compared to where we were being slammed about skiing down rollers

If I were to cruise some of the smaller boutique experiences like the big med sail craft seem nice as would certain barges in Europe etc but I’d hate to me just another oldster ....I’ve been told European barge trips are for the old

I’m generalizing

We do go fish Chandeleur in the gulf off Mississippi coast and I promised my boys one Venice Louisiana trip for the big frogs off the rigs...but it’s a multi day sleep aboard trip
