Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie helped build Donald Trump up in the 2016 presidential primary and now he’s trying to tear him down before the 2024 election.
He says it’s time for the Republican Party to move on from the boisterous former president and his stolen election claims.
The blunt ex-prosecutor and governor has been test-driving his anti-Trump message as part of a public relations blitz around the release of his new book “Republican Rescue,” separating himself from the lion’s share of Republicans who still hail Mr. Trump as their unquestioned leader.
But Mr. Christie is trying to pull off a high-wire act with “a lot of downsides,” said Ross Baker, a politics professor at Rutgers University in New Jersey.
“They include alienating Trump and incurring his malediction, and discovering that there are just not enough anti-Trump Republicans to win him a swing-state primary,” he said. “I think his chances in states that strongly supported Trump are vanishingly small.”
Mocking the idea that Mr. Christie’s message is penetrating, Mr. Trump this week blasted out a link to a headline from Brietbart.com that read “Exclusive: Donald Trump Already Sold 100,000 Copies of Book, 50 Times More than Chris Christie Book.”
Two days earlier, Mr. Trump shared another report from the Daily Mail that Mr. Christie had at that point sold a “paltry 2,289 copies.”

We were way past Christie before Trump was even a blip on the political radar.
Christie, who has been critical of Trump lately, has only sold just over 2,000 copies of his most recent book, something Trump and others have mocked as a sign of his lack of success. Trump’s book has only been out for two days longer—nine days total now for Trump and seven days total for Christie—so Trump has sold nearly 50 times more than Christie in almost the exact amount of time.
He will curl into a ball and roll at it.
Good, nobody listens to Christie.
His mistake is thinking there IS a GOP without Trump, or someone who stands for the same ideas.
I’d never vote for another Romney, McTurd, or ... Christie.
By getting into a zero gravity zone in a spaceship.
Chuckle.
Even without Trump being the front runner Christie never had a chance and definitely not after bad mouthing a man with 90% approval rating in Party.
When I think about moving past Christie I’m reminded of the phrase “the long way around is the short way home.”
We are fortunate that Christie is not very smart. He is alienating Trump supporters / voters. A smarter tactic would have been to ignore Trump and attempt to steal his voters. But Christie is not smart enough to try and pull off that stunt.
Sure you do chubsey ubsey
Pssst... We’ve all moved past Christie.

Make America Great Again
A great idea!
Fat Vichy Republican swine says what? Sooooooooey pig pig pig.
Christy and his ilk just don’t get it. Trump is not my preferred candidate for 2024 - I prefer DeSantis - but there is no way in hell I’m going to vote for any Republican who is trying to tear down Trump at this point. All that does is help Democrats.
Move past Trump. A great strategy for losing an election.
I’d support Ron DeSantis if he decides to run. Trump should stop pumping the vaccines.
Certifiably insane. Christie is a dead man walking in the GOP.
