The Beatles ain’t changing their image for anyone — not even Disney.
The British rock group teamed up with director Peter Jackson to release their long-awaited musical documentary, “Get Back,” now streaming on Disney+.
The series includes several scenes featuring smoking and explicit language; however, the group refused to have them removed.
The three-part show includes a disclaimer from the streamer ahead of each episode that reads: “This footage contains explicit language, mature themes and smoking.”

Beatles and Disney.
Scum plus scum.
I wonder if Disney wanted to add footage of the Beatles kissing each other in tender bisexual moments
They should cut out all that long hair and guitar music.
I watched the film, and there’s a brief shot where Lennon surreptitiously takes some small item out of his pocket, notices that the camera is on him and then puts it back in his pocket. Not sure what was going on there, but my hunch was some sort of drug use. There are definitely days in the documentary where Lennon seems strung out on something. Helluva musician, though.
Well Lennon did make a song called "Cold Turkey" made a few months later.
I watched the doc. Very good, but slow.
My take is you had four guys who, when in their song writing and performing days, were together 24/7.
Then their lives diverted, and there they were back together for the first time in years to write some new songs and perform live.
HERE’s my take.
Watch the doc and see if you agree.
I think Oko Ono was the main reason for Lennon’s demise, and she was a negative
influence throughout the period of this doc.
At one point George walks out, then returns.
In summary, it’s worth watching, but you’ll probably fast forward the second episode, and most of the third until they’re on the roof top.
Pretty amazing group, that I grew up with.
Yoko was bad news, and you can see this in the doc.
Well, half of the rock group. The other half was unavailable for comment. Thanks Yoko!
Watched all of it many thoughts. Interesting study in group dynamics. George sets a boundary in tge beginning then goes along with the program once it’s set.
I’d seen footage of the roof concert and kept looking for it to show people. Couldn’t find. It’s very good.
Muted during ono screeching. That was bad enough. Horrible watching Linda eastmans child running around the studio, rifling through the band’s instruments, throwing their fur jackets around. There was nothing they could do to stop it. Nothing. She’s playing with the drum set. To go Starr’s drum set. Tgis five year old is banging on it. It was like a POW camp exercise. Horrible.
Walt Disney was a chain smoker
I saw George displaying an inferiority complex for Clapton. When Paul wanted him to play something specific then George would say “you want eric clapton!” and then he would return to playing repetitive phrases, which is the definition of ‘vamping’. Paul got tired of it and tried to get him to join in the creative process. But Paul didn’t like any of his contributions.
Paul did like Lennon’s contributions though. And they jammed and collaborated like old buddies. Meanwhile George continued vamping in the background because Paul rejected his contributions. That cycle continued for a while. Then one day after Paul again told George to quit vamping they went to lunch.
That’s when the solid rocket fuel burned thru the O-Ring seals. I’m pretty sure that George concluded while he was out that Paul didn’t want him. Paul wanted Clapton. So when he came back and quit the band, John’s response was to suggest they get Clapton to replace him!
None of this is to suggest that George was not a driving force talent all on his own. George lent his unique voice to the band and Epstein knew how to integrate it. Paul is very talented but he did not know how to integrate George into his orbit with John. And Ringo is a damn good metronome for those two, but even he felt put out a few times. George went on to fulfill his destiny and put out some great music.
The Beatles defined a generation. Then they broke up before they could decline into mediocrity. The perfect shooting star that leaves a trail of diamonds in its wake.
His constant breaking into “Don’t Let Me Down” got really annoying!
Paul does say they have no direction or focus without Brian Epstein. It showed they did a lot of procrastinating.
I always chuckle when I watch a documentary on a serial killer and Netflix cautions : violence, gore, sexual language, smoking.
What?! Smoking is on par with gore?
I seem to be missing something here. Wasn’t the movie Let It Be a documentary about these recordings? Why should I watch this Disney movie when I can watch the original Beatle movie?
I have a copy of The Beatles Anthology, and in it John Lennon recounts that late in the Sixties (maybe even early Seventies) he had a small bowl full of powdered hallucinogen near his front door. As he left or entered the house, he would wet his finger and dip it in the bowl, then lick it off.
I forget the time frame, but I think he did this constantly for a period of months. Eventually he said that he was walking around with the color completely washed out of his world, he was seeing everything in black and white.
Good gosh. I can understand someone catching a buzz, but someone has to be so afraid of reality that they would do that.
Of course, he was, at the same time, using every other drug under the sun.
That would be Mick Jagger and David Bowie. Sad.
