The problem you have is that you believe in the US government’s official numbers. Prove that those are real.

For example, I’ve watched the unemployment numbers shenanigans for decades. The definition has changed multiple times and the measurements are indirect. So i don’t believe them. Why should I believe covid numbers? Belief in those is the core of your argument. If those numbers can’t be believed, comparisons of numbers can’t be believed. Two different governments collect data differently.

We also have 50 states contributing data, collecting and reporting differently. We can go down even furtger to counties, hospitals, etc. The two country level data sets cannot be compared meaningfully in any way.

By what magnitude do you think it could be off by?? 10 percent? 20 percent? 30 percent?

I would observe this: COVID-19 is now the leading cause of death in the U.S., and the toll continues to rise as cases, hospitalizations and fatalities surge across the country. The complete number may never be known, and on that I would agree with you, even after the pandemic ends, but already it is a staggering number of lives cut short. Fact is, researchers, know beyond a doubt that the number of COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. surpassed at least a quarter of a million people by November last year, and that moved into the leading cause by October this year, far surpassing even cancer and heart disease deaths. This number is supported by three lines of evidence, including death certificates. You would agree that it is much, much more than a flu and will be gone by Easter?
