No. I AM native American. (Curse this damn iPad autocorrect….big brother tells us such phrase must be capitalized.)
“American” is the appellation for people from the United States (sorry, all you South Americans). “Native” in English means born of. They were not born of the United States as a people. There was no USA. Impossible for them to be that stupid ponderous phrase as a whole, except as they are native-born in the US indivcually

There are/have been billions of native Americans. I was born here, and have lived here my whole life. Never moved to another country. How does that not make me a native American? What about every other citizen born with American citizenship? What do you call them if not native Americans?
