1. The Party
The Party
Peter Sellers, Claudine Longet, Natalia Borisova, Jean Carson. 1968
Tho not “scientifically tested, “What’s Up Doc”
turned on this giggle box. Madeline Kahn, Kenneth Mars,
Mabel Albertson. OK the two (male, female)leads begin the score with a penalty; Still the movie is for laughs.
“Something About Mary” runs a close second.
“A Shot In The Dark” 1964
Saw it while in the Navy. Laughed so hard I actually slid off my seat in the theater in Great Lakes.
It used to be. Lately it’s been a tedious mess of angry old people.
“Baby steps. Baby steps, board the bus.”
“You think you could do it today, Bob. We have a baby schedule to keep.”
And of course, as mentioned, It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world
My List and not in order
Animal House
The Big Lebowski
Tropic Thunder
The Pink Panther
Kingpin
The Hangover
Christmas Vacation
American Pie
Austin Powers
Wedding Crashers
“Major Payne gave me some big laughs last night.”
Some of Damon Wayans best work!
My kids can still recite the movie nearly verbatim. Gems like “pop yo tittie outta his mouth and let him grow up”.
From the opening where he breaks the wounded soldiers finger to take his mind off his wound to the end scene where the blind cadet and his seeing eye dog were both shaved the movie delivered laughs in just about every scene.
Another good Wayans movie is Bulletproof with Adam Sandler.
I know some don’t like Sandler but the pairing with Wayans was great.
I’m getting the feeling that the people that were polled for the article were much younger than a lot of us.
Bridesmaids sucked badly.
Yup, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein
Funny, funny stuff!
I’ve seen “The Office”, it is funny, but I’m not a devoted fan.
I have NOT seen “Office Space”. I will have to ask my daughter on Thursday if she’s seen it-she is in HR.
I am surprised that “Animal House” was not on the list. I remember watching it in the theater in 1978 and it seemed like the entire audience was laughing continuously.
And speaking of Monty Python, when I first saw “The Meaning of Life”, I laughed for almost a half hour at the Restaurant skit (Mr. Creosote). It was maybe the longest, deepest sustained laughter of my entire life. Luckily, I saw it on video in my own home and was not in their theater (as I probably would have been ejected).
The “Biggus D!cku$” skit in “Life of Brian” may have been a distant second. To this day, I cannot watch that scene without cracking up.
Tropic Thunder
“Animal House?”
Thank you. Came to say the same thing.
Oh, wow! Haven’t thought of that movie in YEARS. Good one. 👍
Maybe I missed it, but no mention of “Step Brothers”???
Just about the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time.
Airplane! is #1? Surely you can’t be serious.
