Can't believe the article doesn't mention how the Dakota Building played a central role in Jack Finney's epic time-travel novel called "Time And Again."
It was from that building that Simon entered the world of 1882 (from the year 1970).

I had read that the builder of the Dakotas had trouble finding backers as the project was too far from the happening places at the time. They said, ‘You might as well be putting up a hotel in the Dakotas!’ Hence the name.
