What We Give to God.
There is one thing the Lord loves for us to give to Him. When we see how some people have treated us and we understand that our trust, our hope and confidence needs to be in something so much more; in the all-loving, all-powerful God Almighty who is merciful and gracious. When we give Him our heart in faith in His Son, He takes that act and multiplies it with blessings of abundance in both spirit and substance.
At this time of “thanks for the giving”, I'd like to relate how we had a pastor over for dinner once. We worked hard to grow and prepare the meal and set it before the family and guests. Well, the pastor started this long monotonous everything he could think of prayer. He was getting on my last possession of patience! I interrupted “Thank you, Lord for this once hot meat, let us all be sweet, but now it is time to eat”!
This year we look at those who connive to thrive at others' expense via draconian domestic, silly economic and dangerous foreign policies. With the fortunes of a farmer we plant love and hope for a wonderful feast and a harvest that love and patience has produced. God tells us to be satisfied with Godliness and contentment, which is great gain. Broad is the way that leads to destruction and many go on that fat road! One man in a parable was rich and filled his barns with more than he needed and said “I will eat, drink and be merry”, but the Lord told him ''you fool, this night your soul will be required of you!”.
As parents we have always shown our children that having a relationship with God is the most important part of life; they will never hear “depart from me I never knew you”. Our blood relatives are at our dinner table this “Thanks-Giving Day” and soon we will be together at the marriage feast of the Lamb!
