Police in a Chicago suburb are looking for a group of thieves who allegedly stole $100,000 from a luxury store in a shopping center on Wednesday afternoon, according to reports.
The alleged criminals casually walked into a Louis Vuitton store at the Oakbrook Center west of Chicago a few people at a time after the armed guard went on a short break, FOX 32 in Chicago reported.
After all 14 had entered the store they suddenly started grabbing everything they could take with them. The guard returned and tried to stop them but they got away.
An average Louis Vuitton handbag can sell for around $3,000.

Sort of how Service Merchandise worked. They didn’t have bulletproof glass though, but they went out of business in the 90s.

The day of the walk-in store is almost over. Present your ticket and the employee will retrieve it from behind a locked door through bulletproof glass. The Home Depot near me is getting like this. The small high ticket stuff is locked up. A clerk will unlock the cage to get it out, and then walk it to the cashier where you pay for it.

The merchandise is still in the store in a back room or warehouse area the thieves will just use the back door instead of the front. The days of brick and mortar stores are numbered, Amazon style mega warehouses and online ordering only are soon to be the new norm. IMHO
