Woman’s tip leads to recovery of 2 missing kids in Dana Point [CA]; Tennessee Amber Alert suspect in custody

Two children reported missing out of Tennessee and Kentucky have been found safe in Dana Point, and a suspect in the case is in custody, authorities announced Thursday.

Noah Clare, 3, and Amber Clare, 16, were located less than a day after the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations released new surveillance images that they said confirmed both kids were with 35-year-old Jacob Clare. He’s the father of Noah and Amber’s uncle.

The children were recovered after a concerned woman spotted a boy matching the toddler’s description and reporting the sighting to law enforcement, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

She ended up snapping a photo of the trio, which she passed on to the Sheriff’s Department. Deputies responded to scene and confirmed it was the missing toddler, his teenage cousin and the boy’s father.

The Tennessee agency issued an Amber Alert specifically for Noah on Tuesday as they upgraded the incident to a case of potential aggravated kidnapping. Because Amber was missing out of Kentucky, the agency said it had no jurisdiction to issue the same alert for her as well.

The same day the Amber Alert was issued, the vehicle associated with the case — a Subaru Legacy — was found abandoned in San Clemente.

As a result of the discovery, the California Highway Patrol sent out an endangered missing advisory for the children that covered Orange, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Bernardino and Ventura counties.

Great news!
They were afraid he’d already taken the kids to Mexico.

“He’s the father...”

__________

Court decides in favor of Mom, declaring her a saint and banishing Dad...

Dad, not persuaded as to the Solomon-scale wisdom of the Court, makes a false move...

Gee, is it possible we’ve seen this script before? And will see it again, and again, and again......

[35-year-old Jacob Clare is] the father of 3-year-old Noah and 16-year-old Amber’s uncle.

And he could be his own grandpa.

The only think that concerned me was, why would he be taking the 16 year old niece? Anyway, it is a moot point since they’ve been found and safely returned.
I figured it wouldn’t take too long to notice a 6ft 7in man of his general description with a child.

sometimes there is a lot more to the story. You never know. it may not be good news, it may be that they dont want to be found .Thats why I ignore amber alerts

I wondered about the 16-year-old niece too . . . an interesting twist. I’ll keep my suspicions to myself . . .

The ‘cleanest’ way to see it is maybe the Dad thought he would attract less attention traveling with his young son if there was a young female with them. People still take notice when a man is traveling alone with small kids. They shouldn’t but they do.

Defying a court custody order is about the stupidest thing a parent can do.

A poor choice of attorney on my part cost me custody of my kids 26 years ago. Because I knew the nature of my ex I decided to bide my time until I could mount a counter attack. I was only allowed to see them every other weekend and split holidays.

Knowing she was wanting to go out and hit the bars I offered to watch them on Tues. and Thurs nights and bring them back to her house around 9:00. That lasted for about 2 weeks when she wanted me to keep them overnight. I also offered to take and pick them up from school every day which she agreed to. So, I kissed her ass for three years but got to see the kids every weekday and have them stay with me twice a week on school days.

She got married and the new husband enjoyed the schedule. When she took a good job offer with a 200 mile round trip daily commute I filed for a change in visitation to reflect the Tue, Thurs schedule. She didn’t fight it and that is the way it stayed until the kids were grown enough to make their own decision which her husband fully supported. (he liked them not being in his house)

Conclusion, It is hard to be a parent and doubly hard to be a decent, divorced parent. Thank God the owner of the company I was with had gone through the same thing and allowed me a reduced work schedule with the same salary as full time.

And the Kids? One son moved in with me to help take care of my father for the last 7 years and started a biz with his brother that has become wildly successful. The brother lives 3 hours away. The last time I was at his house he had at least a dozen photos of us doing stupid stuff when they were little on a shelf in his office. After I saw that I looked in every room and there is not one photo of his mother in the house.

The time and sacrifice you put in when they are young pays big dividends when they grow up.

Good for you! My daughter would move to Texas, where her company is headquartered, in a New York minute, if her ex husband would agree to it. Fortunately, they allow her to work from home on the days she has her 9 year old son, and travel on the days he’s with his dad. Of course, it’s his grandparents who spend the time with him, since the dad often can’t be bothered. (Except for that “quality time” he spends with his son, watching R rated movies til late at night on school nights).
