People made fun of Hitler during WWII

Hollywood ran out Charlie Chaplin for him mocking Hitler, didn't want to offend the Germans so they wouldn't lose access to the lucrative German market.

Now they'll run out anybody who mocks Winnie the Xi and the chicoms, or mentions the slave labor/concentration camps. Things that make you go hmmmm....

LOL, no they ran him out for being a commie (in the mid to late 50's).

IIRC, Chaplin was a commie wasn’t he? Fundamentally, not much difference at some levels-it is a well known fact that for communists, fascists are regarded as a fertile breeding recruiting ground for them, and for the fascists, vice versa.

An interesting phenomenon that in the years leading up to WWII, both sides understood this as a given.
