No. If a stock is valued at $100, and goes up to $300, that’s a 200% increase. If it is valued at $100 and goes down to $1, that’s a 99% decrease.

Well that’s right. I was thinking of the equation 4x200%=8.
But I stated it badly. And you are correct for the way I stated it.

And stock values don’t go negative either, unlike temperatures, so bad choice of an example too boot.
