Disruption of Pharmaceutical Deliveries? (vanity)

Posted on 11/10/2021 8:46:17 AM PST by Bogle

Could this supply-chain disruption affect pharmaceuticals? Concretely, I mean is there a chance that pharmacies will not be able to fill some prescriptions for a dangerous length of time (i.e., neither could a drug store fill a prescription nor send the patient to another drug store)? I do NOT wish to start rumors. But I'd appreciate any informed insights. Thanks for any info!

Imo, it has already started. As an amputee I can’t get some specialty cremes to help with wound care, sometimes they take months. This going back a year.

I’ve been researching and buying herbal/OTC alternatives for the prescription meds used by my family, to use as backup. May not be possible for everyone. Yes, I believe this has the potential to eventually become a serious issue.

I have had to wait 4 days for one of my COPD inhalers. None in stock.

That was in Wally Worlds drug store to boot.

The problem getting pharmaceuticals was on the news weeks ago on Portland Propaganda TV.

I take a number of drugs (BP, Diabetes, etc) so I’ve taken a long term approach to building a stash of most of them. Most 30 day prescriptions can be refilled after 21 days and 90 day prescriptions can be refilled after about 60 days. I’ve managed to stash at least 90 days of the most critical meds. It’s taken quite a while to build the stash, but it gives me peace of mind to know I won’t be risking my health if there’s a short term supply disruption.

Given most items come from CCP suppliers via ship, if there where a critical need I’d think at least some supply could be sent by air, or domestic suppliers could ramp up production.

Good move. And it’s a plan the rest of us should be following.

Anyway, it’s pathetic that Americans should even have to consider doing this. Thank you, Joe Biden. And thank you, GOP free-trade traitors.

Unfortunately some medications are not made at all in the United States. Quite a few generics come from Israel and India.

There are a number of medications that one cannot quit taking without risking injury or death.

To see if a medication you take is made in the United States you can check this website:

https://www.pharmacompass.com/

Just because the medication is made here is no certain consolation because they may rely on foreign suppliers for precursor chemicals.

I watched a video following the production of a high value medicine. It was stupidly complicated. But each nation doing their bit of the production made financial sense. The base country gave grants to keep the development local. Every step was because of taxes, subsidies.

99.99% of our RXes are from Kaiser, and we usually get them delivered by USPS mail (no extra charge) in 2-3 days of asking for a refill on line.

We just got an email from Kaiser stating to order refills early, as they would be on a 10 day strike starting next week.

I didn’t need anything but a baby aspirin refill. My wife had 3 rx refills, and they are scheduled for arrival today or tomorrow via USPS.

I don’t know if this is going to be a big problem in much of the country as yet, but if that occurs, then there needs to be a way to put to the fire the feet of those causing this problem. Seems to me it might start with our do-no-good gov’t. officials.

What age group of Americans would be negatively impacted with shortages of the meds they take daily?

Yep!

Again, we the evil 65 and over age group, who refuse to roll up into a ball and die for the good of the elites.

So try to have a legal reserve of 30 days of your meds.

I think the biggest issue is that we no longer make so many of these things here. Even with good shipping, we’re at the mercy if other countries...most of whom hate us
