So...it's 2:30 Pacific Time. I woke up after a bad dream and my mind started spinning. Like an epiphany, but in the very worst way. I am normally not one to give up on things I care about, as was the case after the 2020 election*. Demoralized yes, but determined to make my voice heard more than ever. Became very active on social media etc. It's just been blow after blow since this administration was installed and I was starting to think that a majority of people support it all. Then Virginia happened. I was elated! I felt like there was hope. Lots of it actually. The main source of my hope was that the Dems might slow down, and that Republicans would feel empowered to get tougher...and we could buy some time to save this Country.
Instead, "THEY" passed the monstosity of a bill.
In 2020 I was asking, what's the point if we can't win* elections. Now I am asking myself, what's the point even if we can.
Between the vax mandates, the FBI/DOJ coming after citizens, the January 6th political prisoners, open borders, ignoring the courts etc. I just feel like we are being occupied my something foreign and evil and are powerless against. Now add to that the soon to be weaponized super-army of IRS agents and I am legitimately becoming fearful. Not something easy for me to admit.
I feel like the country I love doesn't exist, and possibly hasn't ever in my lifetime. I feel like politics is showbiz and that the Uniparty is totally real, and they all answer to globalists which means our (the citizens) will is totally irrelevant. All we are (both sides) are a nuisance to them.
I want so badly to be wrong. Is there anything I am missing? Is there cause for hope that I just can't see? This is new feeling for me. It's almost complete dread and I suspect I'm not alone.
It hasn’t been 2:30 AM Pacific Time yet. Did you not change your clocks from Daylight Savings Time?
Stop being an effing whiner. You sound more like a man-bun wearing millenial that cant handle life, grow up and stop being a crybaby, if you feel so strongly get active and do something like run for office yourself but you’re not helping the country or anyone else by just whining woe is me.
After 3 hours of sleep... I didn’t quite think that one through. On vacation in Arizona.
You might be right... but blind optimism isn’t much better. Was just looking for ‘actual’ reasons to be hopeful.
Sure. But, you have to be prepared to take to the extremes. That is what the tyrants fear most. What do you think the chain-link fences around DC were all about? The tyrants fear an organized resistance. In the end, you are responsible for your own well-being. But, there is great power in numbers. You have to be willing to join others who are willing to go all the way.
Let me give you two reasons. Yes, the Biden socialist gang and their allies in the Deep State/permanent bureaucracy have done enormous damage to our country in just 10 months. But they have exposed the people supposedly on our side, like the Bush bunch, for exactly what they are - users at your side on Election Day then partying with the Bidenistas with total disdain for us the other 99 percent of the time. Second, traditionally the moribund Republican Party in Virginia has produced enough pollwatchers to cover just 10-15 percent of the polls - last week with Steve Bannon’s urging, 93 percent were covered. Its not easy to be on your feet for 14 hours but you’ve got to pitch in to save this country.
The View from Galt's Gulch [shameless vanity]
I tend to think that this has been a very, very long time coming. It has been painfully obvious since the 2008 election cycle but it started very long before then.
I think that the country will come back better than before. But it's got to hit rock-bottom before it can come back...and that is going to be a long process and is going to be painful.
I tend to think that the only thing that we can do on our side is to hit the brakes and slow things down, but not stop it. I don't say this to be defeatist, but to be realistic.
The educational system has been utterly corrupt and this has been that way for a century. Look at the two primary theoreticians who formed modern educational philosophy: John Dewey and Jean Piaget. They were both left wing and sought to use the education of the young not to install traditional values and independence...they sought to use the educational system to create drones that will think the way that the State wants them to think.
The corporate structure has been totally compromised to be an agent of the state. Access to capital is being restricted to corporations that bend the knee (that's why so many companies are going "woke" -- they will lose access to major funding if they actually act with conviction).
Until the system comes crashing down, I really don't think it can be "fixed". But once it does, the populace will need people who can and will be able to do so. And that's conservatives.
At the same time, be grateful. I'm a boomer born and raised in the US. There has probably never, in the history of man, been a more bountiful and peaceful time in history. Incredible time on earth (certainly some people not so blessed and went/going through incredible pain and difficulty too - disease, murder and mayhem never stops).
What's the saying about having the wisdom to know what you can change? Go there. As far as the country and world "going to hell in a handbasket," of course that is lamentable, but it should not preoccupy your mind. CS Lewis, On Living in an atomic age is on this general subject. Apologies for the YouTube, but at least the reader has a good voice. I did not find a free text version -- life sure is rough!
We are living in truly historic times right now. But it's not the black plague, and it's not Herod killing all the firstborn, and it's not (at least for us) Genghis Khan. It's not even WWII.
The world is a nasty place. It belongs to Satan, mostly.
Not saying sit back, be happy, stop complaining. Rather, correct the balance so you are not mentally preoccupied in a bad place.
What can the public do? at some point, what I imagine is the ONLY effective action, massive civil disobedience. Hopefully a leader emerges who guides that effectively. I watched a fairly good and highly intelligent and determined man get the office of POTUS, only to be stymied by the people in the system, who refused to give up the control they wrongly hold. If POTUS can't "fix it," how can lesser? The silver lining in all that is the revelation to many more, just how rotten the institution have become over the last 50 or 80 years. Some of us have seen this for a long time - my epiphany came around 1980. The world is not as it seems, and is certainly not as "commonly presented" in education and media.
Indeed don’t curse the darkness...light a candle
You need to look at it as we had Trump for 4 yrs as God was showing us all the potential we had to come off the brink we were on with Obama’s 4 yrs. But too many didn’t learn from that so God’s putting us through the side once again only worse than before.....we have still left God very much out of the picture of this country.
Same thing happened throughout History when Israel turned her back on God....Invasion, and the country fell apart from the Inside.
The key is American people Still will not give the Lord his rightful place....and it continues to support the things he hates.
Snowball headed for hell…
I apologize for sounding harsh but you have to realize in times like these you must look inward for your strength, and that strength comes from doing something constructive to start changing the situation. Stop looking to others for your source of strength.
not to install traditional values and independence.
I know you are right about Piaget and Dewey but my education in public schools, at least, DID involve a respect for and a support of those values.
From first learning the Pledge to singing “My Country Tis of Thee” and bible readings each morning, yeah, we learned all of it.
But yes it is no longer that way. I would not send a child to those abuse centers any longer.
I do not think we will ever get back to where we were. Too many people have forgotten or simply do not know anymore.
We have entered the idiocracy.
Well it’s in the peoples hands.......just how far evil can continue it’s march across our nation apparently still has not been enough to shake the hearts of it’s people back to God.....and the ‘faces’ of this nations people continue to change with the invasion over our borders.
......We now have Islamic Muslims running city hall entirely in Detroit....babies being butchered and we’re now exporting abortion, children left unprotected by society, and a huge failure of NOT convicting and punishing criminals. Our courts are nothing more than money bundlers by attorneys and corrupt judges. On and On.
If God isn’t finished with us I wouldn’t blame Him if He decided to....
This is why God gave us intelligence so we could invent cool things like beer.
People have only touched the edge of how painful it could get if things aren’t turned around.....and this administration isn’t the one to do it as they are hell bent at destroying all there is good about our country......we had a taste of what progress was and hearts turning back to God under Trump because he encouraged it. Now there’s none. It’s all falling down with the Humpty Dumb-ties sitting in Washington.
“I know you are right about Piaget and Dewey but my education in public schools, at least, DID involve a respect for and a support of those values.”
They push a little bit at a time. Frog boiling, you know?
...”what’s the point”....you ask.
I don’t hear the almighty telling any of us to surrender what He gave us...you’re listening to the wrong side.
“we had a taste of what progress was and hearts turning back to God under Trump because he encouraged it.”
Both Reagan and Trump were just speed bumps
