These stories are terrible but many could be prevented if the media would tell people one thing:
“If you are over 50 and have more than one chin, for god sake, get vaccinated”
The fear of “fat shaming” is killing people. Thousands of people. We are telling EVERYONE they need to get vaccinated, when the people with 2 or more chins are AT LEAST 10X more likely to die from Covid than people with only one Chin, and its probably much, much higher than that.
This has been OBVIOUS since April of 2020, when pictures of people under 60 hospitalized with Covid first started appearing on the news... and it hasn’t changed much since then.
This isn’t me be “funny”. This isn’t funny at all, it is the honest truth and sparing people’s feelings is killing people.
The Vaccines don’t slow the spread of Covid, but they do significantly reduce a person’s chance of dying from it. Not Prevent, but reduce is better than nothing.
And your evidence for this assertion is what, exactly? In September 2020, when no one in the U.S. was vaccinated, there were 19,139 deaths involving COVID. This past September (i.e., September 2021), at which point millions of Americans had been vaccinated, there were 60,119 COVID deaths.
Notably, as recently as July 2021, COVID deaths were down (some 65%), compared to July 2020. Starting this past August, however, the trend moved radically in the other direction. COVID deaths in the U.S. are now up, compared to the same period last year. Way, way up.
Not Prevent, but reduce is better than nothing.

Sure but that amount of ‘reducing a person’s chances’ drops month by month....I think I saw the other day that after 7 months, those chances are no different than the non-EGT’d.
As others have suggested, get the weight under control which means eating right and getting exercise.... and take a good quality preventative regimen. Oh and have ivermectin handy.
They’ve been hiding the ball on monoclonal antibodies so well that the very effective treatment doesn’t even enter the discussion here. That treatment alone reduces hospitalization by 85% and has FDA emergency use approval. Yet , if DeSantis had not publicized it in FL, it would be virtually unknown. Where are the public service announcements? Vaxxers continue to try to use fear to stampede people to get vaccinated. It’s evil.

or much healthier would be to lose a chunk of weight.
Does covid grow faster in fat cells? Do fat cells require more oxygen and thus overload the body's ability to supply oxygen with a weakened respiratory system? Do fat cells somehow inhibit a stronger immune response?
Someone in medical research should be attempting to learn why it is that obesity makes people much more likely to die from covid.
