All you need to know: Travis Scott’s Astroworld music festival mass casualty incident:
* 8 dead
* 300 were treated
* Dozens rushed to Houston hospital
* 11 were in cardiac arrest
* Concert victims include 10 years old
* Saturday event canceled
Just another reason to hate rap.
On a related note - A club in the northeastern part of King County Washington, they had a lot of local bands. We went there to see a fun local band called The Beatniks. Then the new owner stopped the live bands and changed it to a hip-hop club.
It was shut down not too long after because of too much violence and a shooting or three. Different cultures.
Long story short, rap concert with 50,000 people crushed 8 people and injured many others. RAP KILLS!

People can be stupid. Mobs are always stupid. Never become part of a mob.
Same with some of the people that ended up in DC Gitmo (but not all. Some were arrested simply for being there).
Remember The Who concert in Ohio in the 1980s? The idiots working the arena opened only two doors and the crowd rushed to get in and four people (I think) were trampled to death.
Trying to feel sympathy for these idiots.
Nope, can’t feel anything.
Probably prevented the shoot out that would have occurred later that night.
A rap star such as this could do so much good for society by tweeting out that they will be giving a free concert in front of some governor’s mansion.
Just saying.

Stage collapses hours before 3-day music festival kicks off
At least eight people died and scores more were injured when chaos, including a crowd crush, broke out during opening night of rapper Travis Scott’s Astroworld music festival in Texas Friday, authorities said.
A mass of concertgoers at Houston’s NRG Park “began to compress” to the front of the stage at around 9:15 p.m., causing mayhem and some people to get hurt, Houston Fire Chief Samuel Peña told reporters early Saturday.
“People started to fall out, become unconscious and it created additional panic,” Peña said during a press conference.
At around 9:38 p.m. Peña said a “mass casualty incident” was triggered as the number of victims grew and emergency responders became overwhelmed.
At least 23 people were rushed to a hospital, including a 10-year-old, authorities said. Of those hospitalized, 11 were in cardiac arrest. Some 300 people were treated at a field hospital on the scene.
Horrifying videos on social media showed first responders performing CPR on an unconscious person as the concert continued.
Another clip on social media showed someone being rushed out on gurneys.
No cause of death was given for the eight confirmed fatalities, pending the medical examiner’s investigation, Peña said. Police were working to identify the victims and people whose loved ones were missing were asked to go to the local Wyndham Hotel.
... The chief said authorities have “heard rumors of people injecting people with drugs” at the show.

What kind of trash brings a 10 year old to a rap concert?

People were really jumping on the cars of security personnel when they were trying to get to unconscious people in the crowd.

Nothing new. We have trash of all kinds across the fruited plains.
Folks, we've been had. This whole "coronavirus" thing has turned out to be nothing but a schoolyard scare.
For the past few months, sports stadiums, concert venues and Trump rallies have congregated tens of thousands of people closely together with no masking and yet none of those much ballyhooed "super-spreader outbreaks" has ever come to pass.
We've been bamboozled.
It's time to get back to normal life.

I saw Olivia Newton-John in the Astro Dome or Astro World in Houston (I don’t remember which) in 1980—I was 12 years old then and my mom just dropped me off with another 7th grade friend. . .seems dangerous to me now and I asked my mother about that decision recently and she said everyone there was 12.
I guess trampling is unlikely at an ONJ concert.
