Not exactly. The DJIA was at about $4,500 when Carter took office in January 1977. It was below $3,100 when he left in January 1981.

Uh, no. The Dow was going nowhere until the summer of 82 (or was it 83?) Then it took off like a rocket. During the Carter years, the PE ratios of blue chip stocks were insanely low.

Dow Jones average was 975.20 in 1976.
In 1980 the Dow Jones average was 963.99
I'm not impressed.
